Having recently started driving Uber it occurred to me it would be in my best interest to have a dual dash cam. This got me started doing the research. In this litigious society (no matter what country) a video is worth a thousand words when it comes to the truth. So, whether having a video record of your ride sharing experience inside the car, or to dispel the “he-said-she-said” debate following a traffic accident, it is clearly in your best interest to be able to produce video proof.Obviously, not all dash cams are created equal. Consider your needs before making a decision. In my case I needed a “dual” dash cam with a rear facing camera that would work in complete darkness to capture what is going on inside my car. Some “dual” dash cams claim to have wide dynamic range (WDR) and “night mode”. But if you really need a camera that works in the complete darkness you need an infrared (IR) capable camera WITH an infrared light source built in. The Vantrue N2 Pro Dual Dash Cam w/ Infrared Night Vision provides exactly that.Other dual dash cams typically have a remote rear facing camera, with a long cable to attach it to the main control unit, while the front facing camera will be built into the main control unit that attaches to your dash or windshield. These are intended to allow you to decide where to put the rear facing camera. Typically facing out the rear window to cover what’s happening behind the car. If you wanted to capture the interior of the car you would attach it to the inside of the front windshield facing the interior of the car.I originally bought a dual dash cam that claimed to have “night vision”. I installed it and found it to be a really nice camera with a lot of features, however neither camera was rated for infrared (IR) light. After I realized it would not work to capture images of the interior of my car in the dark I bought an external IR light source. This did not help. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed that the camera was not rated for infrared light!I ended up sending both the light source and the camera back and bought the Vantrue N2 Pro Dual. This is a FANTASTIC camera. I won’t quote the specs because they are all in the description, it has an amazing field of view on both cameras and extremely high-resolution video capture (1080p in dual camera mode) with all the features of the first camera I bought and more. I also purchased the GPS module. This is a really cool addition to the camera that also helps to set it apart from the rest. It superimposes your exact GPS coordinates into the video along with your speed. There is a really cool software package available to give you map imagery coordinated with your video. The camera will allow you to insert your license plate number which is also superimposed on the video. In summary, other “dual dash” cameras claim to be a perfect fit for Uber and Lyft drivers but beware, only cameras that specifically state that they are infrared (IR) capable with an integrated IR light source (LEDs) are truly rated to capture images in complete darkness. If you go with a camera that is not rated for IR you will find that unless you are in a brightly lit area, or it is daylight, you will not be able to capture what is going on inside your car!If I were to find any fault with this particular camera it would be the following:• Memory card is NOT included. Most of the cheaper cameras come with one (~$13.00 for 32GB)• GPS is not built in and costs another $22.00• I would prefer a rearview mirror mount. The ideal position for this camera to mount would be just below the rearview mirror. The suction cup mounts can’t facilitate this. This camera is on the high end in cost, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.

Excellent dash cam best i have ever owned

I gave this cam a second try after I got a first one which was not turning on because of power adapter, and after using it for two days I have to say that I like it, I'm impressed by the lens and video quality, also the cam has many more advanced features than my old one. I wish this cam is WiFi enabled but I highly recommend it.

I travel a lot for my work and needed something to protect me from the potential (no witness) accident. This camera fills that need and adds to that protection with "parking mode". The resolution is great and the setup is simple and intuitive. Throw it in a bag with the 12v adapter and use it in rental cars etc. I researched other flavors of dash cams - this model seemed to bring the most features for this price point. I had one question for Vantrue support and they answered quickly.

This is exactly what I expected. The quality is clear and the device is easy to use. I had one technical use question and I received a timely and useful response from Vantrue support.I was disappointed to learn that I could not easily identify all the tags on all the cars I pass day and night. After considering the issue and watching more closely, I have come to the conclusion that the N2 Pro actually sees better than I do (field of view and clarity). It is not possible to have both a wide viewing angle with a long depth of field AND sharp telephoto focus on a specific car tag from the same lens on a single device. I do feel that the DVR does an excellent job of capturing the inside, back, sides and front area of our Subaru.I hope you enjoy your N2 Pro as much as we have.

I like everything about this camera but the night vision there is no such a thing the cabin is very dark you can't even tell who is sitting in the back seat, I had it for 6 months now but for some reason, it's not recording but the light blinking

Best dash cam for ridesharing vehicles. Worth the wait for the N2 Pro.

The Vantrue N2 pro dash cam is a great little camera. It is the first camera of this price point that I've ever bought, but it pays back in the features and quality compared to other cheaper cameras I've bought in the past.Packaging: The camera comes in a non-descript black box with a cardboard sleeve. It opens up to reveal the camera, which is settled into a foam insert to keep it from bouncing around int he box. Below it is a smaller box that contains the cigarette lighter adapter and mini usb cable and the windshield mount. The camera does not come with an SD card.Design: The camera itself is made up of mostly a plastic exterior, with the obvious glass on the lens and the screen. The one side of the camera has a semi-circular rubber cover that, when removed, reveals the micro-sd card slot and the mini usb port. The camera feels solid without any cheapness to it. The top part of the camera has the slide adapter that is used to attach onto the windshield mount. The mount itself has a mini usb port as well. This is cool because the camera can be slid on and powered through the mount, instead of the cable attaching directly to the camera itself. The camera lacks any chrome accents, which is good because it draws less attention to itself when you leave it up in the car.Setup: Physical setup of the camera itself is easy. The suction cup is simple, and the camera slides easily into the mount and powers on. Setting up the microsd card is where it gets a little tricky. The specs state that the camera supports up to 64GB. Natively it can support up to 32GB without any need to reformat the card. In order to use 64GB, you have to format the card to FAT32. Even though I was able to get the card formatted properly ont he computer, the camera refused to recognize and work with it. It worked with a 32GB card without a problem. This is what I currently have in the camera. Otherwise, transferring videos is easy.Video quality: The camera is capable of doing 1080p dual camera (one dash view and one cabin view). The video quality is decent, but it is difficult to make out license plates that are moving past and after 15-20 ft, the cars in front of you also are difficult to read as well. This can be a function of the windshielf, weather/sunlight, but you won't be able to pick out a license plate that is on the otherside of the intersection. The camera can also do 1440p, per the specs, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. On 1440p, you will not be able to get the cabin view, from my understanding, but I was unable to confirm. The cabin view is okay quality, but you don't really need to pick anything out. You can generally see whats going on in the cabin at any given time. The cabin view also has night vision, but its not too great, as the illumination falls off prety quickly and you can't really see anything in the back seat of a sedan.See the attached clips for examples of the cabin and dash views.Other features: One key feature of this camera is loop recording. The camera gives you the option of doing 1,2,3,4 or 5 minute loop or no loop at all. This means that when you start recording, the clip will be whatever length you chose until you stop and start a new clip. This allows you to drive for 2 hours and only have a 5 minut e clip taking up space. Its easy to save a clip by stopping and starting recording again. The camera also contains things like parking mode, G-sensor to auto save the recording when you get into an accident. I did not test these modes. You can also put date/time as well. There is a GPS attachment, but I did not purchase it at time of review.Overall: The camera overall is a great camera. I can't really speak to the price, as $200 is a bit pricey to me for most things, but I'm happy witht he purchase. I've used other cheaper cameras in the $40-80 range and the quality of the N2 pro far surpasses those cameras. So at least I do feel like I'm getting my money's worth! One star taken off for the difficulty with the sd card, as I had bought a 64GB card to use with the camera, but had to switch it out and not being able to get 1440p working.

Not too long ago I was in a car accident nothing serious however there was damage to my car from the other driver however her insurance company would not pay for my damages stating the fact that there were no witnesses at the scene which caused me to stumble upon . N2 pro to better protect myself against situations like this in the future After receiving the product I tested it out immediately write out the box it was ready to go I installed it in the car at night time to test it out . After getting back and reviewing the footage even at nighttime the forward facing camera records excellent footage crystal clear and lowlight the rear facing camera was good as well . I did notice that I did not see that the infrared night vision feature was not activated after consulting the owners manual I couldn't figure out how to switch on the feature Luckily venture has a Facebook page and watch message them with my scenario and immediately my issue was resolved I am 100% satisfied with this product and I am confident that should I be involved in another incident I will have the N2 pro to back me up

I currently have a camera in my vehicle but does not have the clarity of this camera. This is easy to operate once you get it setup. Love it so far. Also, customer service and support is awesome. Questions are answered by the next day. Also I ordered the wrong GPS, questioned why it didn't fit, got the correct answer the next day and 5 days later I had the corret GPS. Only complaint, you need a magnifying glass to read the documentation. It could be bigger and still fit in the box. But totally satisfied with camera.

I searched all over for a dash cam that also covered the inside of the car. Many choices but nothing quite does what the Vantrue N2 Pro does. It is an amazing camera that is absolutely perfect for ride share drivers. The picture quality is excellent. Not difficult to set up and I couldn't be happier. We are going to buy another one for our Jeep adventures! We also purchased the hardwire kit and 64gb evo memory. You need to format the 64gb memory on a computer prior to use in the camera so make sure you have a formatting utility. You can download a free version pretty easily. The 32gb memory does not require format on computer if you want to skip that step.

It's a bit expensive, but It also looks well made. Video quality is good. It's not bulky, but also not tiny either. In my car, it is noticeable from the outside. But because of the form factor, it doesn't disrupt my sight line very much. The g-sensor is too sensitive, but it is adjustable. As with all dash cam, I think you must hardwire it, or it just becomes too much of a hassle.

4 Sep 2017I drive rideshare in the USA and after hearing of other bad experience with both riders and crash reimbursement I decided to look into a dash cam. There are so many to choose from but a friend recommended Vantrue. After my research, I chose the N2 after reading other good reviews. I am very happy so far. It installed as simply as 1. Attaching the suction cup to the window 2. Attaching the camera (insert micro SD card) to the mount. 3. Plug in one of two included USB cable that supplies power to the camera. The camera immediately tells you it is on with a pleasant jingle. The screen goes on to show you your view. You can easily adjust both the front and rear view and then essentially forget about it.Not one of my riders has noticed or said anything. I even found a fairly clean way to hide a longer USB cable around the molding of my 2007 Prius. It could be even more concealed but I am happy with it.I haven't had any big needs from the camera but I love the feeling of comfort it provides both in the sake of riders as well as possible car crashes or traffic events.I will update the review as needed. Please check out my images to see the installation placement and quality of shots.

Great picture and easy to setup. I highly recommend this camera if you are looking into dash board cameras.

The N2 Pro is a Taxi style camera that allows the driver to record both in the cabin as well as out the front window. Lets take an in-depth look. Package wise the camera came shrink wrapped and well packed in a nice professional looking box. Once opened inside includes a nice full color 18 page English side manual, along with a quick start, register, and chance to win a GPS mount. Out of the package the camera has both a screen and front lens cover that need to be removed before using although there does not seem to be a lens cover on the rear facing camera.Along with the camera comes a suction cup mount. The mount feels rather light, and looks a little different then the GPS mount listed in their store front so it seems it is the Non-GPS bracket. You also get a rather long USB Mini B to car socket lead that features an extra USB port built into the end of the car socket side. This keeps the camera from hogging up your car socket. Lastly you get a shorter regular Mini B cable to go from the camera to a wall outlet or power bank. The manual mentions to plug the camera in to a power source and charge it for two hours before first use.Next the manual mentions that it accepts 16GB -64GB class 10 cards and before using a 64GB card to format it in a PC first to FAT32 format. I will be testing using a Sony brand class 10 64GB card. Windows will not nativity format anything larger then 32GB to FAT32 so you must use a program to do so. There seem to be quite a few around. Ubuntu Linux has GParted. After I had done this the camera came up SD Card Error after booting. So I formatted the card in the camera and the error went away. After all that I put the card into the camera. At first i took the whole little door off, but after putting the card in i realized that the little door actually pops up and rotates. A nice little design they put in there so I don't loose the door. Now that the card is in (teeth towards the screen way) while the camera is charging lets take a look at the software side. After booting up press the M on the bottom to get into the menu. Once there we have separate sections for Recording, System, GPS, and Files. It took a little getting used to since the menu M button is on the bottom, the OK is on the front, and the menu arrows are on the bottom, but it was not too bad.Starting in the settings menu we have the usual. My camera came set in English, but Language is the first option, and English is the top choice if anyone else happens to need it. skipping some here . Auto LCD Off has 1,3,5 Min and off. I am always glad to see a camera feature a 1Min LCD Off setting. The camera also has non-use auto off, and as I have been sitting here typing this the camera has turned itself off. So it does work. Frequency of course has 50 and 60Hz. In the USA you will want to set this to 60, and lastly the version my camera came shipped with is VTN2Pro7G.v1, but after writing and editing my notes I have updated it. The camera is now on VTN2Pro7H.V3On the Recording menu we have 1080P+1080P if you want to use both the front and back camera, or you could run the front camera only in 1080@60,1296 or, 1440P . Loop choices are 1,3,5 min. If you set it to off the camera will stop recording once the card is full G sensor was set to High. I usually turn this off to avoid the video being locked from hitting a bump or pot hole in the road. Number Plate allows 9 spaces to type what ever you would like to have written on your videos. (car's plate YouTube ID ect) Stamp allows you to independently turn on or off the Date and Time, Logo, Number, Speed, and GPS stamping. This is the first camera I have seen that allows you to turn off the Logo branding on the video rather nice to see this. You can also rotate the display, and to round out the features you can set a time lapseIn the GPS settings the GPS it self can be turned on or off, and the units can be displayed as MPH or KMH. Lastly menu wise we have the Files menu. This then lets you see videos by type or all at once, and seems very nicely organized. While running the camera furring recording when the power button is tapped it will toggle the IR LEDs on the rear camera off, auto, and on. This is one of the few cameras I have come across where the LEDs are actually useful as most with IR LEDs on the front just cause reflection on the windscreen. My only downside with the camera so far is that the rear camera can only rotate a little up and down. I was hoping to be able to get it to rotate and face the front to get a super wide view, but this is not possible. When it comes to file structure things are stored in a DCIM folder on the card and then broken down to Normal, Event, and Photo. The files names are the date and time, and then the front camera ends in A and the rear in B. The front camera is 12Mb video with 97Kb Mono audio. The rear camera comes in at 11Mb video and 96Kb Mono audio. Not as high of a bitrate as I would like, but understandable since both lens are in the same housing. I would like to see it bumped up to 15Mb if possible. At the current bitrate according to the Recording Time Calculator on DashCamTalk you can hold roughly 12 hours of recording time dividing that in half you are looking at 6 hours per camera before the card overwrites.File size for a three min clip comes in at 265MbI only have a few small cons for this camera. When I first got the camera videos seems to have a bit of a blue tint to them. This seems to have been fixed in the most new firmware. My second con is the mount. You can plug the USB Cable into the camera and the mount, but the way the cord plugs into the mount can make it hard to take the whole mount off and on without unplugging first. I get around this by plugging directly into the camera.Overall though I think this is a pretty good camera. It is a camera to strongly consider if you are a Taxi, Uber, or Lyft driver. It can also been a good camera for people who rent or went out cars as well as a parent looking to make sure their teen driver is paying attention and not distracted with texting or talking behind the wheel.

Recently received this dash camera. I chose to hardwired it to my vehicle. Compared to other dash cams, its small, lightweight, and does not create a large blind spot on the windshield. Its relatively easy to set up and use. The HD video is clear. The viewing angle of the forward and rear camera depends on your vehicle design. Keep in mind, where its mounted and the "A" frame", head rest and the rear frame of the vehicle may cause blind spots

Very happy they added IR nodes (nightvision) to this camera at an affordable price. The picture quality during the day is excellent. The nighttime picture is very good as well. Having the IR in the cabin is great quality as well. The backseat is pretty visible as well. This is a great camera for ridesharing drivers who want to record their driving and have the rides recorded in case of an incident, or if they are wrongly accused of misbehaving. The camera itself is compact, so it won't take up much window space and having the charging cable attached to the suction cup makes it easy to pop off the camera when not in use and download the captured footage.Photos are not nearly as clear as they are recorded, but show the amount of light you expect to record at night.

Venture N2 Pro – First time buyer. This is my first time buying a dash cam and so far I am very impressed by it.I love the video quality is top notch crystal clear during the day hours and decent at night with limited lighting. One thing that stood out was the LCD display shouting off after a few minutes – it looks like the camera is turned off but still recording, very convenience if you are in a situation of being harmed or even if you get pulled over by the police and need proof of any wrong doing. Window attachment is very steady and doesn’t fall down. Also love the fact that starts recording one you turn on your car and better yet it records inside and outside as well. And if you just want only outside recording you can set it up to do so. The front camera has a view angle of 170 degrees and the back camera has a view of 140 degrees angle – you can see your car inside as well through all the windows in your car. This camera can be hardwired to the battery of your car by just buying an inexpensive camera kit. I also like the fact that I could turned on and off the microphone in case I just don’t want audio recording inside my car (Privacy). Overall I give this dash-cam a 4.5 out 5.0 stars. I am extremely happy with this dash-cam. Please see Day and Night recording as well as pictures.

Highly recommend this camera. It does an excellent job of capturing video from both cameras. Setup was straight forward and not complicated at all. The power cable is very long; I was able to run it from the camera, down the pillar, under the dash, along the center console, and plugged into a charging port in the back seat. I took the camera out for a test spin a few days ago and uploaded the footage to iMovie and the quality is top-notch. Initially, I was concerned with playing my music, but the camera does an excellent job of making the music sound like it's far in the background, very clear, but not over powering. Conversations are also clear. I'm considering buying another camera for my other vehicle. You will not be disappointed with this camera. For the price, you will not find better quality. Highly recommend it.

Initial impression & Unboxing:The Vantrue N2 PRO Pro comes nicely packaged with foam to protect the camera. The LCD screen and cameras are covered by a plastic cover to keep them from getting scratched. The instructions, quick start guide, registration, and accessories are all packaged neatly in the box. The standard suction cup is included along with a usb cable and power adapter. There is a separate optional GPS suction cup which I purchased to review with this camera. I won’t get into the details of the camera specs as you can read them yourselves on the description portion here on Vantrue. I will say in terms of interoperability it is nice that Vantrue has stuck with the same mini USB connection as opposed to going to USB-C or Mirco USB, you can interchange and upgrade cameras if you have an older Vantrue camera which uses the same power cable you ran previously in your car. This was a pleasant surprise coming from the Vantrue N1 and Vantrue R2 which I previously reviewed and use in my cars. The location of the buttons is intuitive unlike previous models with button on multiple sides. The N2 Pro buttons allow for easy one hand navigation through the menus and the emergency and ok button right in your line of sight. Camera construction is well made with a durable hard plastic to hopefully withstand internal deviated temperatures. My expectation is it will hold well to the blistering California heat waves we have in the summers. The plastic finish is not as refined as the R2 in my opinion, but looks and finish are all subjective so it is a moot point.Wiring:The provided power cord is similar to previous model Vanture cameras so not much difficulty in installing it and there is plenty of length in the cable to hide and wrap it around the windshield and along the side of the dash to reach the accessory port depending on your car. I took the power plug apart and actually soldered in two leads, shrink wrapped it using electrical shrink wrap and hardwired it behind my stereo console in one of my cars rather than purchasing a separate hardwire kit which Vantrue sells if you don’t want to go through that kind of trouble. It runs off the accessory port which is usually 12-24VDC on most cars converted to 5V @ 1-1.5A output to the camera. Like previous Vantrue cameras, there is also a direct Mini USB port so if you choose to make your own custom stand or mount in a different manner, you can get power to the camera with direct usb connection. Another advantage is if you need to remove the camera from the suction cup mount you don’t need to take the suction cup mount off, you can simply unplug the camera from the suction cup connector which makes it modular and allows for cleaner wiring. The standard power cord also has a hidden ubs plug so you can charge your phone and other accessories which is great. Another upside is the output is only 1.5A at most so you will not destroy your expensive electronics by charging them at higher C rate and degradating the battery, these small details are important if you understand Li battery technology, which most people do not. Whats good for the goose is not good for the gander.Initial Setup:Setting up this camera is fairly easy, the menu system is similar to the previous Vantrue cameras so there is no learning curve if you are familiar with the Vantrue firmware and OS. Using the Menu button you can scroll through the main 4 sub-menus. I’ll go over a few of the options I choose for my setup. Right off the back I noticed the odd way the Stamp is configured in the menu. This is not clear at all and one of the options I would like to see Vanture change in their firmware to make it more clear what is enabled and what is not. When you dabble in that menu option you will know what I’m talking about. For example if you want MPH shown there is an X and check mark, in order for the MPH to be shown on the video you have to make the cursor cover the X so that the checkmark is exposed and enable. Counter intuitive if you ask me. I opted not to use the parking sensor because I live in a relatively safe neighborhood and I’m more concerned about the drain on the car battery. If you happen to have a really large capacity battery or a backup power pack than the Parking sensor is useful to use. G-Sensor default is set to medium, I changed this to low only because my car has very stiff suspension so the ride can be a little bumpy and thus rather than trigger an impact event and fill up the microSD card I opted for a less sensitive option. If in the event you have an accident you can press the emergency button to lock that video in the Event folder which does not get overwritten. I would hope if you get into an accident you take the camera home and offload all the video data on a PC and sort through it later not having to worry about losing the video. One other setting I changed is the default video loop recording duration to maximum allowed. I find it easier to just edit down a longer video than having multiple small clips to join together, but this is all subjective and no impact on camera performance. I tested the Time Lapse mode and it is wonderful feature to my surprise, it worked very well and at 1fps it can record for a long length of time before it loops to another joined video. Although I have the parking mode turned off I can see the Time Lapse being a very useful feature for some. The Time Lapse mode works not only in Parking mode but outside of Parking mode which I believe is not available on the regular N2 model camera.microSD card and Format info:I purchased a Samsung Evo Select 64GB microSD card as I’ve had good success with these cards and Vantrue cameras in the past. I also have a Sandisk 64GB on my Vantrue R2 camera but this Samsung is a Class 10 U3 which is good for 4k recording even though this camera does not record at 4k, it records two HD 1080p streams so having a fast microSD card is worth it to prevent any issues, plus the price is no different than an older model by maybe a few bucks. That said, I put the card in and despite what the instructions say about formatting the card on a PC with a FAT32 partition the camera handled the formatting without any issues and I didn’t have to use any utilities on the PC to format it. If you insist on using a desktop utility to format it to FAT32 than use either of these freeware (Fat32Formatter 1.1 or guiformat-x64.Exe or guiformat.exe) any of these three free utilities will do the job on the PC. Vantrue says the camera actually supports up to 128GB microSD card but there could be some stability issues so for the sake of simplicity stick to a 64GB microSD card unless you are willing to experiment. I only have a single 128GB microSD (Samsung Evo Select) card, I put it in the camera as a quick test to see if there would be any issues and there was non initially, but I didn’t use it long enough to detect any possible bugs for continuous use.Camera settings:There are a few settings which are not clear from the instruction manual alone so testing them once you have the camera is the best way to find out how it impacts the operation of the camera. Surprisingly the factory default settings of this camera were more than ideal for my situation with only changes to the Stamp and a few other setting I found the camera was ready for use. Normally on the other Vantrue cameras I have made several changes before it was ready for use, but all the changes I would have normally made was default on the N2 Pro.Rear Camera:The rear camera is surrounded by 4 IR Led to aid with night vision operation which is far more useful recording inside the cabin as opposed to the front camera which has to deal with headlights and street lights constantly throwing the sensor off. The rear camera rotates on its axis so you can adjust it to get the right angle. The only grip I have is the rear camera is on the far end of the camera, it would have been better if the camera was somewhere near the center in my opinion because now I have to move the camera slightly closer to the driver to get a centered rear camera shot so there is an offset between the front and rear camera to keep into account.Video/Picture Quality:The first Dual 1080p camera I have used. I opted to use the default 1080p/1080p for both front and rear cameras. I was not surprised how clear the images were. Having previous Vantrue cameras in my other vehicles I expected the same clarity if not better and given the N2 PRO uses newer OV4689 and Sony IMX323 CMOS cameras paired with a Novatek NT96660 processor there is virtually no delays in the recording at 30fps for both cameras. The field of view on these cameras is enough to virtually cover the entire 360 range with limited dark spots. The coverage is F1.8 Front camera lens with 170 deg angle + F2.0 back cam lens with 140 deg angle. The night vision is far better than any other camera I have seen so far for in this price range. The front facing camera night vision is not like the same night vision you would see from a CCD camera, but for driving and catching license plates it does a good job. The rear camera with the 4 IR Led has a good picture quality for nighttime driving and the quality is on par with the front camera.Audio:The audio is clear and crisp in my car. Of course the quality of the acoustics does depend on the car and the materials in the car and environmental conditions so while it might work well in a Mercedes or high end vehicle you might not feel the same about your own car, I tested this in my daily driver Acura and I could make out the music very clearly as well as my own voice. Nothing unusual or to be concerned with.Noteworthy Mentions:One of the biggest improvements I’ve seen from the N1 to R2 and now this N2 PRO is the algorithm used for detecting ignition states when turning a car on and off. Depending on the car model, when you turn on the car, the ECU temporarily powers off all accessory ports, so the camera would detect no power and on the N1 it would shut the camera off than back on sometimes. The N2 PRO is smart, by that I mean when you turn on the car depending if you drive a BMW to a Toyota for example it knows the interrupt of power is from the car starting and thus no user input is required to manually turn the camera on.18 Month Warranty speaks for itself, most cameras offer a 1 year warranty if that, Joe from Vantrue is very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Most importantly he responds quickly to email so if you have any issues you can be sure you will receive a response and support from Vantrue which says a lot regarding customer service these days.In my opinion the small LCD screen like the N1 is nice to have for function verification and camera setup, but, beyond that it is very small and not ideal for video playback. Unlike the R2 which has a much larger LCD screen, this camera is compact so I don’t mind giving up screen real-estate for a more compact package which the N2 PRO offers. The instruction manual could use work and be a little more descriptive and clear. In fact this manual I have is outdated and I believe it is for the N2 model not N2 Pro. This is why some of the features you must just manually test yourself to get an understanding on how it impacts the camera. The camera is fast, by that I mean when I turn on my car the camera is on within a second and when I turn off the car it shuts off about the same time so unlike previous models the N2 PRO has little to no delay. Also browsing through the menu and button response is instant. The camera comes with a 250mAh internal LiPo battery which is sufficient enough to use for a few hours at best, don’t count on it to record long durations of video as that is not what it was intended for. It is also important to note if you don’t use the supplied power cable, do not use an unregulated power adapter pumping more than 1.5A of current into the camera which could possibly cause problems with not only the camera, but cause battery problems which could result in catastrophic failure. I assume there is an internal IC which regulates current at the camera itself but better safe than sorry. The N2 Pro comes with a micro HDMI port so you can plug right into your TV for playback which is nice to have but the cable is not provided. When the camera is recording there is a blue led which is lit in the Emergency button, the R2 had a very visible led which is brighter. This is a both a pro and con, if you are wearing sunglasses the blue led is very hard to see on the N2 Pro but the upside is it is not bright at night so it is not as obnoxious. The GPS playback is great evidence and proof if you ever have an accident or receive a ticket which you can use in your defense. This is one of the biggest pros with this camera is the option to add the GPS receiver mount which has almost the same footprint as the standard mount. Well worth the additional investment for the N2 Pro and the software provided which can be downloaded from the Vantrue website is easy to use and packaged for both Apple and Windows OS.Honestly from using other Vantrue cameras my expectation with the N2 Pro was high because each iteration Vanture has put out there is always some new improvement or feature to look forward to. The N2 Pro succeeds the previous models with a range of upgrades and features unlike its predecessor. With the integration of a rear camera and rich added features this is leaps and bounds better so if I had to make a suggestion and recommendation to anyone looking for a camera I would not hesitate to recommend the Vantrue N2 Pro.Update: 8-25-17: Added video with Sun directly hitting the camera. I also have a very light reflective tint to help keep the car cool so the optics and windshield are not the most clear from all the micro pits from driving on the freeway/roads.Update: 8-26-17: I saw one reviewer complain about cabin recording and I felt compelled to talk about the IR feature. The IR led work great, probably the best in any camera I've seen in this price range. You just have to turn them on or set it to Automatic. When the camera is on hit the Power button and on the top right side of the LCD screen you will see it cycle between Auto, On and Off. Try it again it works very well.

Driving in Orlando traffic everyday I've been looking into getting a dashcam for the past year or two but nothing caught my eye. This unit finally came along and made me pull the trigger. I'm glad I did because it records with top-notch video quality and survives the 104 degree Farenheit Florida sun.I spent an extra $10 and ordered the hard wire kit from Vantrue to hook this bad boy up to the fuse box. This allowed me to conceal the wires and take advantage of parking mode with the camera being powered 24/7.Pros:Easy to setup and install even for a dummy like me, plenty of options, great instructions providedExcellent Mount, easy to install and fully adjustable. Power cable connects to either the mount or the camera itself. It is very easy to mount/dismount the camera so if I don't want to leave it in the hot sun all day I can easily move it to my center console or glove box.HD video quality – when I review the video it is crystal clear, I can easily make out street names, signs, stores, license plates, etcTwo way camera – records both in front of the car and inside the car. I’m very impressed with the inside the car camera because you can easily see out all windows including the rear window. Having that kind of footage can come in handy in-case anything were to happen.Customer Support – I had a question regarding the product and was able to receive a reply right away.Cons - I often have to take the dashcam off the mount to either access the SD card or adjust the angle. Not a huge deal but worth mentioning.Update: I finally drove at night with the dash cam. I primarily drive during the day in the Florida sun but am also very pleased with this dash cam's performance at night. I have uploaded a couple of screen captures showing off the images I captured while using the camera at night. I can still clearly see license plates, signage, etc.

I researched many dash cams before I came across the Vantrue brand lineup. They offer several different types of dash cams. The one I choose was the Vantrue N2 Pro. I liked the fact that it is vey low profile and does not obstruct your view. It has duel front and back cameras. Video quality is excellent. Mounting was easy. Quality construction. Comes with infrared mode as well. I would recommend.

The camera was smaller than I expected which is good. Setup was pretty simple. Just wish the manual was a little more detailed on what some of the function do. The videos look pretty good. I haven't used the night vision so I can't comment on that.

Every aspect of the camera works as described in the description. Fantastic images.

I was Leary of this due to cost, but now I'm glad I bought it. You get what you pay for, so you can find cheaper, similar cameras but they won't do everything this one does. I hard wired mine into the fuse box (kit sold separately) so I can use the Parking monitor since my truck doesn't fit in the garage. The video quality is excellent! I don't know how it covers such a wide angle but it does. The night vision is par for every other camera with night vision so don't expect super clear images, no camera can produce that. The camera facing backwards rotates to whatever angle you need. The suction cup has held up in 100+ degree days so far, so super impressed with it's staying power.

Loving my first ever dashcam ! Easy to set it up and user friendly :) Thank you very much !

Full disclosure...I have not even used this camera yet and I am rating it 2-stars. Why? For false advertising. What the description doesn't tell you is that you need to purchase a separate power bank in order to use the Parking mode while the car is off. I know this because I asked the company directly after I noticed it mentioned a power bank in the user guide. To my surprise, one was not located inside the box.

This works great for rise-sharing, or any other need. Its picture from the front camera is a great hi-def recording, and the inside camera works great for day and night recording. It switches to infrared recording for night views. It also can see clearly anyone in my vehicle, as well as through the back window in case someone rear ends me. The sound quality is also highly impressive and anyone speaking in the car is clearly understood (this feature can be disabled if you don't want audio recordings or it's illegal where your live). I have a 264 gig memory inside it which will cover around 30 hours of recording, and then I transfer them to an external hard drive to hold onto for a couple months until I'm sure they won't be needed for anything. I will say if you transfer directly from the camera to the hard drive it's much slower than taking out the memory card and transferring it that way. Overall, I'm very happy with this. One final not I did purchase the clip that goes over the rear view mirror to hold it it place since the suction cup it comes with doesn't hold well to the window in Arizona heat. Also, the heat of the care with the camera in it has not affected the camera at all.

Just received mine yesterday. Upon checking the videos on my PC I've noticed that it did not break the videos in small 3min segments as I've set up to and it played back at 50X the speed. Also, when I tried to update the software, my PC won't recognize the unit when connected to USB

Seems like great it will be quality. Will have to see if this is the revised mount that does not need to be tightened with screwdriver every so often.I just wish it came with the GPS integrated. I will also need the low voltage fuse kit.I hear good things about this company and the dual camera. We Will see!!

Once you understand the interface layout, it's easy to use. The quality is fantastic. I only wish it came with an SD card so it could fully function right out of the box.

Got this to document driving (not mine; other peoples). Has a back and front camera; both fantastic at capturing daytime as well as night videos and images. Connected to my USB via the provided car charger. Worth the money spent. Haven't had to use the evidence yet thankfully.

I have used this camera since the middle of June. It has worked flawlessly. I'm in Arizona and daytime temps are in the 100's daily. The camera so far has withstand the extreme heat. When parked I do remove the camera from the windshield and put it in the glove box. I don't want to chance the EXTREME heat on the windshield. Driving with it isn't a problem in the heat. All the functions work as described. In fact I'm going to purchase another for my wife's car. The rear view recording is very good. When no one in back seat it can record out the rear window. I had a problem at the beginning with the SD card, but it was a faulty card. The N2 support people were very helpful in making sure it was the card and not the N2. I would recommend the product.

Great camera, excellent picture quality.

I like the dual cam, the night view seem to only work on the inside camera, would it be helpful if you can store the live video on the cloud or in a separate HD storage hidden on the car in case the camera get stolen.
Lana
Camera is nice and very light weight compared to my last one. Using the hard wire kit was very easy since theres just the ground wire and one other wire. Setting it up was very easy as well. Very user friendly camera, with great qualities all around.

I dont usually leave reviews on Vantrue/ any products but I do think some of them do deserve a review, like this one. Ive had this for a year now and ive no regrets. i tell everyone who is looking for a dash cam for their car. Nice picture/video quality and audio. Ive got into a minor accident and this camera helped me with the case.the only cons is that it doesnt over write old videos. Manually have to delete them. If they find ways to implent that in their future software upgrade then I will change it to 5 stars. other than that no complaints.

That's a great product

It’s an excellent camera. Perfect night vision, and being in the desert, I love that it’s heat resistant. The playback for footage is amazing, and the quality of said footage is top notch. The vantrue support team is amazing, they get back to you ASAP and will do everything they can to help you.

I like this product. Everything about it. I bought one at Best Buy different brand, that was more expensive and did less. This one has incredible quality sound and all. Buy one if you are considering it and find out for yourself

I've been using my new Vantrue N2 Pro for a few days and think that it is a really excellent product. Good Warranty. Great night vision. Good materials. Very highly recommended.

This camera is perfect for rideshare drivers. Events and conversation are a good thing to have documented these days. It records out front of your car and inside as well as audio. The picture is great. No guessing at things in the video when you watch it on your computer. You'll also receive the best customer on your purchase even long after you've received it. I emailed them looking for another power cord to buy and within hours they had one shipped to me at no charge.

This is a great little camera! It will certainly document everything day or night keeping you safe. You have the evidence you need to counter any dubious claims against you. As an Uber driver. In terms of just a dash cam it is an excellent tool in any kind of accident. My car was hit and run in a parking lot side swipe and the camera caught the whole action and the license plate. The police told me wow that a great picture and you are lucky to have it.

As a truck driver of 14 years and tech lover, my experience with this device has been awesome. I came from Go Pro first generation cam devices, so the Vantrue N2 pro with the GPS mount is a real game changer. When I showed my co-workers a video that I transferred to my Samsung Note 8 phone via computer they were amazed at the detail and dual camera clarity. Hey trucker, how much is your CDL worth? Because I'm pretty sure it's worth far more than $240 lol.
Ailyn
So far, so good, the only problem I had is that if my car stays outside in the sun a whole day, the camara falls down, the material that holds the camara to the windshield cant hold to it when too hot. (Typical day of 29°)

Overall a nice unit. Dual cameras is the way to go, and it has them. Nice quality video too. Nigth vision works well also.

This dash camera is so awesome. I like it so much because it is the perfect size I’m looking for and doesn’t take much space in my windshield. I put it in my new TM3 and it’s a lot clearer than the one I bought first. The video is super clear which is very important for me. Also, I love that it has second camera for the inside of the car so I easily see what’s my kids doing at the backseat all the time. Setting up is pretty simple too so there is no issue on that. This is a great dash camera all in all and I highly recommend it.

I like the picture quality and how easy it was to record. Once it turns on it starts recording. What I dislike is that it is very sensitive to temperature. I bought this item in the spring and not even 5 months passed, but my dash cam is broken. Remembered getting into my car (not a very hot day but warm), my car was probably around 80 degrees Fahrenheit inside and when I got in, I heard the dash cam turning on and off as if it was restarting and shutting down immediately. I took off the dash cam from the mount and tried to turn it off but it was still doing the same thing and then just turned off and cannot turn on. I put it back on the mount and drove for some time (thinking I needed to recharge it) because the mount is connected to my car battery, but it did not turn on. I paid a lot of money for this so it shouldn't be this bad. I couldn't contact the seller either, so I'm putting my review here in hopes someone can reach out to me.

Need: ability to read street signs and most importantly license plates both day and night. Also need infrared rear facing camera that works wells.I compared this to Anker Roav’s newest addition dual camera with infrared capability.Findings: this camera has poorer front view image quality versus the Anker dual lens version, however; Ankers dual lens version is not much better and in my testing actually performed poorer than ankers older C1 Pro version that does not have dual lens but generally can be purchased for a lot less. The Upside: this camera has great rear view infrared in comparison to the Anker. In fact I liked that aspect so much that I considered keeping just for that but having recently been in a Hit and run accident I was so glad i was able to get the guys license plate using my older Anker C1 pro. With this camera I could barely get the license of the car in front me let alone next to me. So sadly I returned. I’m no Anker fan boy in fact I returned there dual lens version because in rear view infrared was a joke and they also came up short with front facing camera in comparison to their older version. So sad. But glad I was able to get the guys plates and report S.O.B. To California highway patrol.

Third camera I bought, price makes the difference, well built unit, easy setup, superb picture quality. Using it with a Samsung 256 GB card (format the card within the camera, no hassle no issues). I do not drive much in the night so not yet tested the night mode. As of now satisfied with the quality of the product.

I love this camera. I recently had a hit and run car accident incident and if it wasn't for this camera....my car would have never been fixed by the other persons insurance. Thank you! I definitely would recommend it for anyone especially uber, lyft or taxi drivers

This dash cam miss footage. I was waiting in light and some other guy run the red light and had accident. Then I looked into it so I could give the footage to the poor guy but no recording. Same thing happened before that and I had miss video not a good dash cam

Like the features, how clear and the 170 * view is. It is easy to mount and can be moved from car to truck easy. The unit is well worth the price. Will more than likely purchase another unit to mount permanently in the wife's car. I use it all the time in which ever car or truck I am driving.

This is the first dash cam I have ever purchased. With all the bad drivers and the dirty cops on the streets you have to be covered.

The old adage "you get what you payed for", is absolutely right. I first bought my N2 Pro a year ago and it went everywhere with me in my truck, all around Southern California and Nevada. Recently i noticed that the on board battery had gone bad. This meant that the camera couldn't date the video footage accurately among other things, even though the footage was being save on the card.I contacted Vantrue in hopes of being able to buy a replacement battery. With a few emails back and forth, I sent my old camera in and got a new one back. The customer support team at Vantrue is excellent! As many of the other review have said, the camera is great. The footage is high quality, and it has many features (including the optional GPS, which i bought). A good quality dashcam can be worth it's weight in gold and this one certainly is. It has a cabin facing camera, which in my opinion crucial for cab drivers or anyone who drives with a ride-sharing app (uber, lyft, etc.). Having a cabin facing camera is also beneficial to prove that you were driving attentively. So take my advice and buy this dashcam. Like all safety implements, hopefully it is never needed in an accident or emergency, but if there is ever a need, you'll be glad to have prepared. (You also might end up recording something interesting happening on the road). In conclusion I'd like to say that, I really like a quality item, but i especially like a company that is willing to stand behind their product.

They are constantly falling off the glass windshield even after cleaning the windshield and suction cup with alcohol. Very disappointed!

This is one great dashcam!!! it’s sturdy, and video recording is clear.....it records both outside the and inside the vehicle....it also has parking mode, when the camera detects movement, it starts recording automatically, but in order for that to work, you have to hardwire it to your vehicle or use a powerbank. This is a great dashcam, I definitely recommend it!

My dash cam arrived yesterday and I was pretty excited until I tried to attach the suction to the window. I cleaned the window several times and finally got it to stick to the window until I got a small bump in the road. The camera won't stick. The other thing is the power cord. The power cord is very unattractive and bulky how it has to feed around your window edges (still visible) only to stick out of your cigarette lighter. I'm looking for something to look as sexy as my car.

I drive for Uber, and a dashcam is a godsend for rideshare drivers. This one is a de-facto standard. For about a year this little camera saved me from a wide variety of unpleasant accusations, ranging from traffic tickets to kidnapping accusations (my accuser ended up in jail). Great, why 1 star rating then? Well, let's fast forward to today.Today I was involved in a rather tricky fender bender arranged by insurance scammers, where the dashcam footage was the only way of proving that I was not at fault. No big deal, right? I go home, take the memory card from the camera, plug it into a card reader… only to find out that the last recording is from 2 months ago. No accident in the "Events" folder, either. All this time the camera was blinking a "recording" symbol as usual. No error messages, no unusual chirps or chimes, nothing. No way of knowing that something was wrong. Now I'll take an "at fault" insurance hit for this scam and will have to pay Uber's $1,000 deductible. Great work, Vanture!…

I actually ended up purchasing an N2 Pro yesterday. I already own an X3 and what I was looking for is a camera that can record the inside (cabin) and the outside of my vehicle because the valet at my building keeps stealing things. The product page is excellent in my opinion; it really didn't leave any questions on my mind. However, I really think they should market that its not only for uBer and Lyft drivers but the inside camera can keep your valuables safe.In my case, my apartment valet keeps stealing things. Now I’m hoping to catch them on video.

I've always wanted to pick up a dash camera to capture that instance something goes wrong. The most important thing to me is that it is RECORDING. The Vantrue was a breeze to setup and is always running when I want it on. I've used it in two vehicles: Acura RDX and Tesla Model 3.Acura RDX:The setup was simple. Charge two hours before using it (I think this just gives it some running power for setup and power up/power down). Put in memory card, mount it in the car, plug it into power. Boom it comes on and it’s recording, no need to do anything else. Drove around enjoying that the display facing me gave me confirmation of what was recording and that it was on and functioning. After parking, the camera turns itself off within like 10 seconds of powering the car off. After getting back in the car and starting it, camera powers on and starts recording.Tesla Model 3:Why would I put this in a car that has built in dash cam recording and even Sentry mode (recording when parked)? Similar to the RDX everything works just fine. However, those who own Model 3s know we don't really "turn off" our cars. We get out of the car and walk away while the car is still powered on. I assumed that when the car locks and powers off the camera would do the same. NOPE, the car continues to power the camera so you have CONTINUOUS recording which is great to find those people who pull up and try to smash our small windows.Video Quality:The quality is great, and it’s higher quality than the Tesla recordings. Also, the tesla recording give the video an odd "hue" to it. With the Vantrue I read complaints that you can't catch people’s license plates etc etc. First, there is no camera that auto focuses on license plates so yes if a car zooms by you it’s no different than a human not being able to read it let alone if you had your iphone out it wouldn't record it and you wouldn't have time to tap "focus". The quality is good and you can get license plates if they are in front of you "long enough" where a human would normally need to focus their eyes etc. Second, with the 1440p camera option you can "enhance" photos nowadays, so I find it hard to believe that if you needed to you wouldn't be able to extract the plate.Design:I really really like the suction cup; the turn to lock is nifty. Vantrue paid attention to detail when they put a power plug on the suction cup mount so that it would be streamline. Additionally, there is a USB charger on the power plug base so you don't lose the ability to charge phones. In fact you gain a cigarette lighter to USB converter.I'll finish with my fixation on it recording. I grabbed video from the Vantrue and Tesla to compare them side by side. Guess what, the Tesla didn't record video. When the Tesla memory is full it stops RECORDING. So if you get in an accident you won't have the recording and there is no notification to tell you it's full. Of course Tesla will fix this, eventually. Lastly, I was driving my Tesla down the freeway and hit a hard hat in the carppool lane, it was unavoidable. But because I didn't know how to operate the "record" function on the Tesla I never got the video proof from the car. This is why Vantrue has great value. It just works.I can upload photos and videos if I find that people find my post useful to compare Tesla and Vantrue.I'll probably pick up another one so I have one in both cars. This is a must if you're a ride share driver. The interior camera is superb with its wide lens. For those who simply want to record front only, you can easily disable the in-car camera.

I’ve had it for about a month now, love it so farOnly thing I don’t like is the fact that mind didn’t come with a manual for some reason, thought I took it out by accident but checked everywhere and nothingMaybe it was just mine***updateIt stopped workingIt would turn off here and their randomly and wold turn back on again but now it won’t turn back on whatsoever. I’m thinking ghat it’s probably the cable but other then the fact I couldn’t see my videos then and there and that it stopped working, I liked the camera, don’t think it does well in the heat and I live in TX
